Naturally, I decided to do it the quick & easy way: poisoning the target. This kind of simple assignment is below me, the son of our Principal. My first course of action was to eat lunch with my target every day to get her accustomed to my presence. Her lunches were… well, repulsive looking, to be honest. I don’t know where she found this stuff.
I’ve also started calling her Lucy; nicknames are yet another clever tactic to get closer to someone, of course. The closer you get to your target, the more trusting they get, and more opportunities to eliminate them appear. This was part of the basics drilled into us at Dahlia Academy. She’s even given me a nickname as well, so I think it’s working.
I didn’t think it’d matter anyway. Today was the day, and I brought a strong, dark coffee as part of my lunch to disguise the taste of poison. The plan was to exchange lunches, at which point she’ll drink the poisoned coffee, and soon pass away, and I’ll finally get to go back to my real school where I’ll be celebrated for my diligence and swift handling of my target.
The first half was a success. I sat down with her and offered the idea that we switch our lunch just for fun. She agreed without even looking at me (clearly a sign of trust) but when I accepted her brown bag, she suddenly changed her bearing. Lucille was eyeing me down like she was observing my every motion. I waited a bit for her to drink the coffee, but her rosy red eyes stared daggers into my soul. It frightened me a little, so I wanted to show her that she had no reason to be suspicious of me, and… ended up eating her whole meal. It was disgusting, I could taste the bacteria in the water, but she at least seemed to relax a bit. Anything for the Attempt, no cost too great.
I watched as she drank the coffee, but… she had no reaction to it. Like, none at all. I didn’t have much time to be baffled by her resilience before my stomach urged me to beeline towards the nearest restroom. Surely, she couldn’t have predicted my intentions and poisoned me instead?!
Only then, recovering in the facilities, did I remember that one line on her file… “The Lacerator has developed a resistance to an unknown amount of poisons”.
Okay, I should’ve known that. Attempt failed, I’ll admit. However, there’s one poison I know for a fact she’s not resistant to: lead. And by that I mean bullets.
