Her hair was still out, draped over her back. The rushing of a nearby river could be heard.
“There you are, are you alright?” Lily asked, sitting on her knees next to her.
Kat didn’t answer. She just put her head in her arms and sighed, fiddling with the orange hat in her hands.
“Are you really an elemental?” She asked.
“Well, no, I mean, I don’t think so, but–”
“It’s fine.” Kat raised her head and smiled at Lily. Her eyes were still red. “Thanks for helping out earlier.”
Lily smiled back. “Of course! Those rude guys should learn a lesson or two.”
“Heheh, yeah. I totally could’ve taught them a lesson…”
“Aha… yeah… well, shouldn’t we head back now?”
Kat jumped to her feet. “Are you kidding? Let’s just skip the rest of class! We’ve already been gone this long!”
Before Lily could reject, Kat grabbed her wrist and ran deeper into the woods.
