It was still cold and wet, but she said she didn't care.
“Okay,” Lily said, kneeling at the frozen river, “are you ready?”
Kat kneeled down beside her, giddy. “You bet.”
Lily bent down and touched the ice with her fingertip. From the spot she touched, the ice quickly melted in a circle, spreading until all that was frozen returned to its original state. The river once again flowed, and the girls cheered.
“Holy crap! You’re really a water elemental!”
“I knoow, I’m so excited! I can’t wait to tell my dad!” Lily froze. “Oh crap, my dad. Kat, what time is it? Is school over already?”
Kat put her hand up to her forehead, looking in the direction of the sun.
“Hmmm, it’s definitely around 10am.”
“Kat, that’s west.”
“Oh. Like 2pm then.”
“...We should head back.”
The girls looked across the river, in the direction of the school. Lily realized she probably should’ve unfroze it after they crossed back.
